About ERRCO

The Environmental Resource Return Corp. (ERRCO) facility is a state-of-the art construction and demolition debris (C&D) recycling plant using the latest processing technologies to provide a clean, environmentally acceptable segregation of C&D components. Through processing, we recover and recycle a number of products.

The facility is located immediately adjacent to the New England Dragway on Route #27 near Route #101 Exit 8 in Epping, New Hampshire. ERRCO has a staff of 53 people and, at full operation, can receive up to 1,000 tons of C&D material per day. The facility provides an economic and environmentally sound alternative to landfill disposal and illegal dumping.

The State of New Hampshire Solid Waste Management Plan, defines C&D debris as “non putrescible waste, building materials and rubble, including lumber, masonry, plaster, piping, conduits, roofing and insulation.” Currently, most construction and demolition debris in New Hampshire is disposed of in landfills. The physical characteristics of this material make it difficult to compact in a landfill thereby taking up a disproportionate amount of landfill airspace when compared to its percentage of the overall solid waste stream.

It has been the ongoing policy of the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NHDES) in fulfilling its mission to protect public health, safety and the environment to close all unlined landfills in the state as soon as possible. Strict enforcement of unlined landfill closure goal has occurred and according to NHDES data, only 5 of the 21 landfills operating in the state are designated as secure. These secure landfills have double or composite liners and comply with Federal RCRA and New Hampshire Solid Waste Management standards. Developing and permitting new landfills has become a time consuming and cost prohibitive process. (Given the economic value of having a commercial secure landfill, many companies would be doing it if it wasn’t so costly and near impossible to accomplish.)

It is estimated that 80 to 90% of the construction and demolition debris waste stream can be recovered and recycled. Because of this, it makes little sense to use New Hampshire’s valuable remaining landfill airspace for this type of material. The ERRCO facility is was developed to efficiently perform its recovery and recycling task, thereby significantly reducing the amount of C&D that reaches landfills.

In addition to the its mixed C&D materials, ERRCO accepts the following materials:

Wood (painted and unpainted)

Metal

Brick

Wire

Asphalt shingles

Concrete

Construction and Demolition
